My story is a little fishy!
Welcome to my first blog entry. My name is Andrew Caplinger and I am a Hoosier who loves to sell fish. I was born and raised in the fish business as my dad and business partner, Nick Caplinger, has been a fishmonger since the 1970s. I started in the seafood business at the ripe old age of 13 and have been blessed to learn from a great many experts in this industry. I grew up working with my dad at 56th Street Fish Market which sparked my love of fish. After many years at 56th Street Fish Market I left to work at McFarling Foods for a few years. This led to me finding a job with an East Coast grocery chain, Harris Teeter, where I worked for five years.
My dream was always to own my own fish market, and on Dec. 31, 2012, while living in Asheville, N.C., during my wife’s birthday dinner she broke the news to me that it was time to put the business plan together and move home to fulfill my dream. We opened Caplinger’s Fresh Catch and Seafood Market, our first store, Dec. 26, 2013, at 75th Street and Shadeland Avenue. Our loyal customers and unbelievable staff have helped us to grow to three stores in less than four years. God has blessed us richly and we look forward to many more years of serving Indy the best quality seafood available with great customer service. Caplinger’s has become a reality thanks to so many taking the time to help me learn this business.

Holiday parties are such a big part of this time of year and we want to be your go-to for seafood, beef and pretty much any food needs. For those of you that don’t know us yet, we are Indy’s premiere place for fresh seafood, and our Noblesville store offers locally raised beef, pork and poultry. We have a staff of experts to provide the knowledge and superior products to make your parties the talk of your guests. We can make things easy by providing complete catering of your parties, or we will sell you the products and give you the advice needed to do it yourself. At Caplinger’s you are the boss. We don’t tell you what we will do for you, you tell us, and we will customize the menu to fit your needs. We do have a number of options already put together, but if you know what you want, we can do it.
Our vendors deliver us the best food daily, so if you want something special it is just one day away. While we are known for seafood, we can get pretty much any type of specialty food item you want.
