116-year-old Pennsylvania woman named oldest in USA

Naomi Whitehead, an African-American woman from Greenville, Pennsylvania, has turned 116, and is now the oldest known living person in the United States. She's also the world's second oldest living person since the death of Marie-Rose Tessier on February 10, 2026.
Whitehead was born in 1910 in Patterson, Georgia, and grew up on a farm helping her family pick cotton and tobacco. In 1930, she married Sylvester Whitehead, and they raised three sons.
In her adult years, Whitehead moved to Pittsburgh, Pa. She didn't move into assisted living until 2011, when she was 101 years old. She now lives at St. Paul's Senior Living Community in Greenville, Pennsylvania.
She has stated that she never smoked or drank alcohol. She told reporters, "I'll live as long as the Lord lets me."
