There’s something special about a dish that brings the flavors of Louisiana straight to the heart of Indianapolis!

Andrew Caplinger, owner of Caplinger’s Fresh Catch, recently shared his take on a classic crawfish étouffée, showcasing the seafood market’s commitment to fresh ingredients and authentic Cajun flavor. Patty Spitler, host of Great Day TV, was there to do the taste-test, which rated high approval!

The dish starts with domestic Louisiana crawfish and andouille sausage from Rihm Foods in Cambridge City. Caplinger walked viewers through the preparation, sharing the techniques and ingredients that help bring the rich, comforting flavors of the dish to life.

For Caplinger, serving quality seafood to the Indianapolis community is nothing new. Caplinger’s Fresh Catch has been serving customers for more than 13 years, with roots that go back even further to the 56th Street Fish Market, which opened in 1993.

Now, the seafood market is adding even more Cajun-inspired flavor to its menu. Fresh seafood deliveries arrive daily at Caplinger’s Fresh Catch. Customers also can call a day in advance to request specific items.

The market emphasizes its use of domestic Louisiana crawfish rather than imported alternatives. Caplinger said the difference in quality and flavor is noticeable.

The new menu also includes Cajun-inspired dishes such as bayou redfish served with cornbread, collard greens, and red beans and rice. The Caplinger’s Special remains one of the market’s most popular items.
