Hear Indiana expands services to adults

Hear Indiana, a longtime advocate and resource for children with hearing loss, is expanding its services to include adults, the organization announced on Daybreak.

Ellyn McCall, CEO of Hear Indiana, joined Patty Spitler and News 8’s Pam Elliot to discuss the importance of early detection and treatment for hearing loss.

McCall highlighted the value of baseline hearing tests for younger people to monitor changes over time.

“If listening in noise is getting hard, if it’s getting difficult to hear in restaurants or in groups, or if you’re missing parts of conversations, that’s a great sign to get some testing done”.

Hear Indiana, founded to create equal opportunities for people with hearing loss through listening and spoken language, offers a variety of services. These include audiology, speech and language therapy, school support, advocacy, and a summer camp for children. The expansion to adult services is expected to help fund the organization’s pediatric programs.
