If you love garage sales, you’ll go nuts over this one!
The 22nd annual National Road Yard Sale Fesival will be held from May 28 to June 1 along U.S. Highway 40, with hundreds of miles of treasures to be had. The event spans 824 miles from St. Louis, Missouri, to Baltimore, Maryland.
Called The Thrill of the Hunt, the festival allows communities along the historic route to host various events. Participants can find a wide range of items for sale, including antiques, furniture, housewares and collectibles . . . even Amish treats!
Some residents will hold yard sales, while others will provide vendor space to attract more bargain hunters.
The National Road, now known as U.S. 40, was constructed between 1811 and 1834 to connect to western settlements. It was the first

federally funded road in U.S. history. U.S. 40 runs parallel to Interstate 70 and passes through Maryland, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois.
The goal of the sale is to encourage community participation, creating a long festival along the route. Past events have provided local residents with opportunities to earn extra income and support local attractions and businesses.
Whether you want to party or shop, there’s something for everyone!
