Patty Spitler reviews ‘Scream 7’

Neve Campbell returns to the “Scream” franchise in “Scream 7,” marking her first appearance in the series since a contract dispute sidelined her from the previous installment.

The new film follows protagonist Sidney Prescott as she attempts to protect her daughter from the Ghostface killer.

The “Scream” franchise, which began in 1996, is now 30 years old. Campbell was absent from “Scream 6” because of a dispute over her salary and contract terms. She returns as the lead character in the seventh entry.

Legacy cast members Courteney Cox and David Arquette also return. Matthew Lillard appears in the latest installment.
