ZooBoo brings another year of fun Halloween activities to IndyZoo
ZooBoo is back at the Indianapolis Zoo for another year of Halloween fun. The annual month-long tradition brings families together from all over the state.
“Believe it or not, we’ve been doing ZooBoo for 44 years, so everything each year gets different,” said David Hosick, the zoo’s Communications and PR Director. “The guests just have a good time. It’s part of a local Indianapolis tradition, and they just love coming with their families and enjoying ZooBoo.”
Throughout the next month, the zoo will be decorated with fall decor and Halloween-themed items. But it’s not just about the decorations; there are many different activities to check out at the zoo, and it’s included with your admission.
“ZooBoo is our biggest time of the year,” Hosick said. “We have about 200,000+ people that come through during October.”
Some of the activities include the elephant pumpkin smash, taking a stroll on the trick-or-treat trail, going around on the Round-Go-Merry (it goes backward for ZooBoo), getting lost in the mirror maze, going to a potions show, exploring Pirates Cove, or taking a ride on the Spook-Track-Ular Train.
“Leeward Manor, which is the centerpiece of ZooBoo village,” Hosick said. "Leeward Manor is where you can learn the tale of the Leeward sisters who have magical powers and their Aunt Clara Voyant will help you understand what your animal match twin is just by the magic they can conjure here in this mansion.”
Not only are there fun Halloween-themed activities, but the fall months are actually one of the best times to come see the animals at the zoo too.
“As things are cooling off, they are more active,” Hosick said. “They are walking around more and it’s really a more interactive experience for everyone who comes through.”
The zoo is also teaming up with Indy Humane to help adopt more black cats.
ZooBoo is happening every Wednesday through Sunday from now until November 1. The activities start at 2 p.m. each day and go until closing. To learn more about ZooBoo and to get tickets, click here.
