Broadway's 'Mrs. Doubtfire, The Musical' is coming to Clowes Hall
The hit Broadway musical “Mrs. Doubtfire” is coming to Indianapolis for a limited one-week engagement Nov. 17-22 at Clowes Memorial Hall.
Patty Spitler sat down with Matthew Porter, director of public relations for Broadway in Indianapolis and Broadway Across America, to discuss the production and what audiences can expect.
Based on the beloved 1993 film starring Robin Williams, Porter said the production remains true to the original movie while adding theatrical elements.
“It stays true to the movie and features brilliant live quick-changes,” Porter said.
The show is nearly sold out, with only a handful of seats remaining. Audiences will see the story of Daniel Hillard, who creates an elaborate disguise as a nanny to stay close to his children, brought to life through music, humor and theatrical stagecraft.
Porter and his team travel to New York each January to preview upcoming productions and select shows for the Broadway in Indianapolis season.
The process helps bring high-quality productions to local audiences, including premiere engagements making their first visit to Indianapolis.
