Hear Indiana has reduced fee program for kids with hearing loss
Hearing loss doesn’t care about income. But access to services does — at least, it does without the right support in place.
The reality is that specialized services for children who are deaf or hard of hearing are expensive. Evaluations, therapy, family consultations, IEP advocacy — these are high-skill, time-intensive services, and insurance coverage is inconsistent at best.
For families with limited financial resources, the gap between what their child needs and what they can afford can be devastating.
Hear Indiana’s reduced fee program exists to close that gap. Families who qualify can access our services on a sliding scale based on income — ensuring that cost alone is never the reason a child misses critical early intervention.
Last year, families who could not otherwise afford specialized hearing services received support through this program. Children who might have slipped through the cracks got the early help that changes outcomes.
None of that happens without donor funding. The reduced fee program is supported entirely by the generosity of people who decided that where a child is born or what a family earns shouldn’t determine whether that child learns to listen and talk.
