Hugh Jackman's sheep romp features clever twists and turns

If you are looking for a film featuring fun, feel-good vibes, plus a few little unexpected twists and turns, Patty has a suggestion. On “Patty’s Picks” she spotlights “The Sheep Detectives,” a new comedy mystery film that she says is a charming and easygoing watch that might just change the way you think about animals.

“It’s cute. It’s not too weird,” she said. “I love those kind of movies.”

Hugh Jackman stars as George, a shepherd who passes the time by reading detective and crime stories aloud to his flock of sheep — not for any particular reason, just for the fun of it. But when an unexpected incident involving George and a $30 million inheritance puts him in jeopardy, his well-read flock decides to take matters into their own hooves.

What follows is a comedy mystery that blends warmth and wit as the sheep set off to find clues, track down suspects, and crack the case — all while navigating a world far beyond the pasture.

Patty awarded “The Sheep Detectives” three-and-a-half stars, noting the film does contain a little bit of language — something she mentioned “sheepishly.”
