If you’re looking for a lighthearted outing filled with comedy, creativity, and a touch of monster mayhem, “Minions & Monsters” is worth the trip to the theater, says film critic Patty Spitler.

The seventh installment in the beloved Minions/Despicable Me franchise opened Wednesday to strong box office numbers and glowing reviews. The PG-rated animated comedy adventure runs one hour and 29 minutes — a perfect runtime for a family movie night — and it is already blowing the top off theaters nationwide.

Set against the glamorous backdrop of classic Hollywood in the 1920s, the film follows the mischievous Minions as they develop and promote monsters who quickly rise to stardom. But when those monsters get loose and threaten the planet, the Minions must band together to save the world.

“When the Minions first came out, I thought, well, that’s interesting,” said Patty. “But it exploded. They’re so popular. Seven movies now. Everyone loves the Minions.”

How many stars did she give it? Watch and see!
