Patty Spitler remembers Dolly Parton for country music legacy, movie roles

Country music legend Dolly Parton has died at the age of 80, leaving behind a remarkable legacy as a singer, songwriter, actress, businesswoman and philanthropist. Her death Tuesday in Nashville was confirmed by her family and publicist.

"I am so upset, shocked and saddened. .... Dolly Parton has passed away at age 80. I interviewed her several times for movies and, of course, her music. She will live on forever in our hearts and our souls.
Love you, Dolly … Always," said Pet Pals TV host Patty Spitler.
Born in Tennessee in 1946, Parton rose from humble beginnings to become one of the most beloved entertainers in the world. Her signature songs include “Jolene,” “Coat of Many Colors,” “9 to 5” and “I Will Always Love You.” Her career spanned more than six decades and included Grammy Awards, membership in both the Country Music and Rock & Roll halls of fame, and memorable movie roles in 9 to 5 and Steel Magnolias.
"She was more than talented. She was strong and kind and, yes, she even loved pets! I am extremely devastated by the loss of Dolly Parton to our world. But let's smile and celebrate her amazing life. Dolly touched her friends and fans not only professionally, but in a personal way as well," added Spitler.
Beyond entertainment, Parton was celebrated for her generosity. Her Imagination Library has provided hundreds of millions of free books to children around the world.
With her unmistakable voice, humor, rhinestone style and kindness, Dolly Parton became far more than a country music star — she became an American cultural icon whose music and generosity will continue to touch generations.
