Film critic Patty Spitler says Steven Spielberg revisits one of his signature themes, the possibility that humans are not alone in the universe, in his new sci-fi thriller, “Disclosure Day.” The film continues Spielberg’s exploration of extraterrestrial life, a subject he previously examined in films such as “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” and “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.” It also touches on theories involving potential government secrecy surrounding alien encounters.

The comedy-drama “Power Ballad,” starring Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas, is earning strong reviews ahead of its theatrical release, with a 96% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
